Many of my subjects are local – the bus and truck are Mercer Island treasures. But I also spend time in New England, Florida, and the Southwest, and recently Barcelona, always with special road trips with family and friends.

I am a graduate of Skidmore College where I took several studios in the picturesque City of Saratoga Springs, NY, and prior to college, was mentored by a wonderful high school art teacher named Vince Butler in my hometown in northern New Jersey.

Painting also is the continuation of an urban planning career where I worked on both coasts, rethinking and preserving cities, waterfronts and regions. Planning and current painting are motivated by the belief that attachment to places and communities are binding, and help to navigate the more difficult issues that we face, and bridge our differences.
