Thoa came to the United States in 1975 as an 11-year-old refugee from Vietnam during the fall of Saigon. She grew up in Denver Colorado, and moved to Seattle WA in the late 90’s. She earned my Bachelor of Arts degree at Metropolitan State University of Denver in 1989. Her Art degree served as a solid foundation, as it introduced a range of art mediums and styles, as well as the impact of visual communication. Thoa was a restauranteur for 30 years, in 2020 start to paint again due to the Covid pandemic as result in her early retirement in which she purely dedicates herself to art. Thoa concept of art is heavily influenced by Impressionism. Subjects are based on real-life scenes, objects, and people. Through her painting, she enjoys injecting energy and vibrancy into these everyday subjects.
