Artist Statement

As an artist, my work is a dialogue between the visceral and the contemplative, a reflection of the dynamic energy that surrounds us and the subtle currents that move within. Inspired by the bold expressiveness of Impressionism and the intricate dance of movement in contemporary abstraction, my paintings seek to capture moments of transition—whether it be the silent poetry of flight in flocks of birds, the collective harmony of a jazz musician or the shifting hues of a sunset over a mountain.

I explore the tension between chaos and order, between individual moments and collective harmony. My style seeks to bridge the immediacy of impressionistic brushwork with the precision of contemporary line and form, creating a visual language that is both raw and refined. Through this synthesis, I invite viewers to pause, to listen, and to find their own stories within the vibrant tapestry of movement, color, and texture.

Aybi Taner is an accomplished artist and art educator with a Bachelor of Fine Art. With over two decades of experience teaching and creating art internationally, she specializes in acrylics, oil, and mixed media. Her work has been showcased in numerous exhibitions across North America and Europe, including Tacoma Art Museum and Maryhill Museum of Art in Washington state. Aybi is passionate about community engagement and fostering artistic growth. Her vibrant, expressive paintings reflect a deep commitment to exploring color, movement, and personal perception.
